It is not necessary for crowns to be replaced unless there is decay underneath the crown. Sometimes if there needs to be a root canal done after the crown, we may replace it. With excellent home care and routine hygiene visits a well fitting crown can last a lifetime.
How do you get rid of mouth bacteria?
Bacteria that causes periodontal disease is best taken care of with scheduling a cleaning with your hygienist every 3months. At home rinse with purple Listerine.

There could be a filling that is not smooth, or if there is a crown, it could have cement under the gum line. Decay can also bring bacteria to the area, and gum disease can cause bleeding.
