Floaters can be an emergency. The retina is the film of the eye which helps you see. If the jelly (vitreous) of the eye pulls on the retina (nerve tissue which sees light), you can see a flash of light. If it pulls too hard, it can tear the retina and cause you to see lots of floaters. A retinal tear/hole needs immediate diagnosis and treatment before if develops into a retinal detachment (a surgical emergency). If you have 1-2 floaters and they are not changing, you are probably fine but it's always a good idea to get a good dilated eye exam from your local eye doctor.

Thanks for your question. Yes, the first cataract is a true cataract which was removed with cataract or lens replacement surgery. The second "cataract" is generally a clouding of the capsule which holds the lens implant and not a true cataract. This secondary cataract can be treated in the office with a laser posterior capsulotomy procedure which can help clear the second cataract. After this laser procedure, there is not a third cataract which can develop in the same eye. Great question.

Thank you for your question. Assuming you are near-sighted and still relatively young, increased near work can keep your eyes focused at the near target. This can result in your eye muscles not relaxing which can cause progression of your near-sightedness (myopia). There is a 20-20-20 suggestion you can follow to take a break every 20 minutes and look at something 20 feet away to change the focus of your eyes and make your eye muscles relax. Decreasing your use of digital media, more time outdoors and sometimes eye medications (dilute atropine drops) can help slow the progression of your myopia as well.

Thank you for your question. It is important to continue treatment for glaucoma as per your treating doctor. Lumigan is generally a safe drug. It has localized side effects such as pigmentation of the skin, growth of eyelashes and occasionally increasing the pigmentation of your iris. At times, it can also cause fat atrophy around the eyes making your eyes appear more sunken in. This is reversible when stopping the medication. As for the second part of your question, I do not know of any food that would interfere with the medication Lumigan. As far as supplements to help with glaucoma, there is no proven association however glaucoma is a disease which can progress with oxidative damage. Therefore, anti-oxidant foods such as fruits and vegatables with vitamin C and beta-carotene are always better for you and your eyes.
