Les Linet MD is a physician, board certified twice - in adult and also in child psychiatry. He practices in Princeton, New Jersey. With more than 40 years of experience, Dr. Linet has earned a reputation for excellence. He is also comfortable using psychotherapy and/or psychopharmacology.

Dr. Linet is board certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He has experience and expertise in treating disruptive, acting out behavior as well as mood and anxiety disorders in kids. He also has considerable expertise in divorce and family difficulties. His background includes having served as the medical and psychiatric director of a residential treatment facility for severely disturbed children and adolescents. He also served on the faculty of two medical schools and has written “The Search for Stimulation: Understanding attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.”

Dr. Linet has extensive experience and expertise in the problem of abuse in its various forms. Most people are more familiar with the concept of physical abuse than they are of nonphysical abuse. The terms, nonphysical abuse, relationship abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, and psychological abuse, are essentially synonymous. Victims of nonphysical abuse are mistreated and controlled by their significant others. Nonphysical abuse is a form of psychological warfare. It is often insidious. It is a form of brainwashing. It is emotional and psychological torture without physical bruises. A related area of interest for Dr. Linet is what has been called the Parental Alienation Syndrome, in which (1) a child is estranged (physically or psychologically) from one parent (2) that estrangement is unwarranted and (3) the estrangement is induced by the other parent.
