Elizabeth Ouellette, MD, MBA is a Hand Surgeon, practicing with The Ouellette Group in Coral Gables Beach and Miami Beach, Florida. Dr. Ouellette has been a Hand Surgeon in the Miami area for over three decades.
Dr. Ouellette became a professor at the University of Miami in 1999, spending a total of 22 years there. Also at the University of Miami, she operated as Chief of the Hand Surgery Department and as Director of the Hand Fellowship Program with Jackson Health System for two decades.
After earning her medical degree with the University of Texas Medical School San Antonio, Dr. Ouellette went on to complete her residency with the University of Washington, and her fellowship with the University of Miami.
Dr. Ouellette specializes in hand and wrist fracture, ligament tear, joint instability, and small joint replacement surgery. She’s also experienced in treating nerve injuries, compartment syndromes of the upper extremity, and nerve and tendon repair after trauma, inflammation, or compression injuries. Dr. Ouellette specializes in treating athletes as well, for sports-related hand injuries.
Today, Dr. Ouellette is extremely interested in the latest research regarding hand surgery and upper extremities. She is especially interested in the biomechanics of wrist instability, repair of injured nerves, skin coverage, and psychological intervention for upper extremity trauma patients. All of Dr. Ouellette’s work in her field has led to the publication of 15 book chapters and more than 30 peer-reviewed articles. She’s also made and numerous presentations at academic meetings and conventions all over the world.
Dr. Ouellette is heavily involved in the Upwelling Foundation, which aims to “foster the intellectual development of the next succession of critical thinkers through an apprenticeship in basic research in the medical sciences.”
