Research is proving that prescription drugs are being found to do more harm than good. All prescribed medications have side effects and when taken long-term lead to serious organ and tissue damage. Not to mention prescribed medication has no healing benefits with no ability to heal or improve the health condition that they are being taken for.

In time the side effects and damage will cause breakdown and organ dysfunction, leading to conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, and cancer. Keep reading to learn what prescribed medication is with links to researched sites with explanations and taking a look at the alarming side effects of these medications. The best alternative is prevention and if you have already begun with the medication cycle then you can still implement positive dietary and lifestyle changes.

What is Prescribed Medication?

A prescription drug (also prescription medication or prescription medicine) is a pharmaceutical drug that legally requires a medical prescription to be dispensed. In contrast, over-the-counter drugs can be obtained without a prescription. The reason for this difference in substance control is the potential scope of misuse, from drug abuse to practicing medicine without a license and without sufficient education. Different jurisdictions have different definitions of what constitutes a prescription drug.

As you can see prescribed medication is now noted as a drug and not a medicine. The reason is that for something to be classed truly as medicine it needs to have the ability to support your body’s own healing mechanisms as well as to “Do No Harm”. Prescribed drugs and over-the-counter medications all “do harm” and have no health benefits in restoring or repairing any of your body functions.

Opiate pain relievers are strong medicines that can be very helpful in treating pain, especially after an injury or surgery. They are safest when you use them exactly as your doctor prescribes. But there is a risk of addiction when you take them for more than a few days. The risk is lower if you follow your doctor’s instructions on how to take them. Your risk is slightly higher if you or someone in your family has a history of substance abuse. If you are worried about addiction, talk with your doctor.

If you are taking a long-acting opiate pain reliever, make sure you know how to use it safely.
