It is also possible that the root of the tooth itself or the bone that the tooth sits in has been fractured (broken). There would be less chance of saving the tooth if this is the case. You need to see a dentist right away to have X-rays taken and get a proper examination to determine the state of your tooth and surrounding tissues.
