Is an abscess tooth serious?
It depends on how you define serious. If you think excruciating pain is serious, then it is serious. If you think that hospitalization and even death is serious, then it is serious. Dental abscesses do not go away by themselves. They should be treated by a dentist as soon as possible.

Complications from Root Canal?
The clinical scenario you depict sounds complex and it would be impossible for me to blindly render an educated opinion. My advice to you is to get a consultation from someone you trust. If there is one near by, try going to a dental school and get an opinion from a qualified faculty member.

Is it normal to have pain after a tooth implant?
Placing an implant requires a surgical procedure so that you could expect some discomfort afterward. Your provider probably informed you that there would be some minor degree of pain and may have recommended post operative medication. In any case, if you are experiencing pain or have other concerns after implant surgery, you should contact the dentist who placed it.
What is the best material for dental crowns?
There is no one material that is the best for crowns. It depends on the need for esthetics and/or strength. The best material as far as holding up over time is gold. It is not used often anymore because of cost and esthetics but it is still a proven and durable material. Of the tooth colored materials, zirconia appears to be the strongest but it is not as esthetic as other materials and has not been used yet over a long period of time. There are also different ceramic materials that can be employed. They also vary on strength and esthetics. For years porcelain fused to metal was the standard and is still often used but today there are many more choices. The bottom line is discuss these options with your dentist and have a reasonable understanding as to what is going to be done.
