Much of the masking and distancing behavior is the USA is predicated on the belief that COVID-19 and its variants are on their way out or on the way to controllable status. The emergency of respiratory disease in children and the re-emergence of the flu says otherwise. An independent judiciary in the abstract sounds like a good idea, but that independence is from other branches of government and not from corporate offices and sources of dark money. A tireless fighter for health care and human rights is stepping back. Someone who I am proud to say I know and who unbelievably remembers me. I have responded to her requests for contributions to various causes, but the dark money that pervades the process has caused me to demur. Forgive me Nancy Pelosi and health and safety to you and your husband and family.
