Last night, all of the major networks and most of the minor ones turned off access to a raging, lying, MOM (aka POTUS). In the absence of repudiation by influential leaders in his own party, the charge of a stolen election hangs in the air. We know that gun and ammunition sales skyrocketed in the past 2 years. We are aware of the militias and the increase of killings by law enforcement of visible minority males and females. It is unrealistic to believe that the guns will go under lock and key or that the ammunition will be harmlessly discharged on the 4th of July. MOM's step back today to invoke concern about the integrity of the electoral process is clearly the result of fixer activity in the White House. But the raging sociopath who took over the Republican party has not undone his "stand back and stand ready" admonition to the Proud Boys. Those who blindly believe in the strength of norms despite MOM's trampling them can't perceive the risk of a Helter Skelter refighting of the civil war.

The orderly prospect of Trump withdrawing into the leadership of a deposed party and campaigning in 4 years underestimates his sociopathic narcissism and his inevitable prosecution on a number of charges. The Biden presidential team faces the risk of Covid-19 infection, particularly with the emergence of the new strain from Denmark with its mink host, producing both phase one and phase two increased risk but also faces the very real risk of an assassination attempt by right-wing extremists or somewhat less likely left-wing extremists dissatisfied with leaders who would serve all Americans. The secret service must deal with the possibility of divided loyalties as must the FBI. We've lost Sean Connery. What say? He believed in Scotland first? Mr. Bond, can you help? Wherever and whoever you are, Joe and Kamala watch out!
