Jennifer L. Livingstone

Counselor/Therapist | Mental Health

I'm glad you're here! I am from Asheville, NC and attended Appalachian State University where I obtained my MSW. I have 13 years clinical experience working with anxiety disorders, depression, grief/loss, relationship issues, substance use issues, and many more. I have worked with veterans, couples, people on the autism spectrum, parents, teenagers, in residential substance abuse treatment, primary care clinics, and medical social work. I would describe my style as warm, open-minded, friendly, humorous, curious, and practical. I strongly believe that answers to our problems lie within ourselves, and I love helping folks access that knowledge.
I use a kind of therapy called Acceptance and Comittment Therapy, which focuses on helping people live a life based on their values, or the qualities of being that matter most. I teach practical skills which help to lessen the impact of difficult thoughts and feelings, so they don't stop us from living the kind of life we want. I'm trained in many other areas, and will use whatever method works best for each client. I am supportive of BIPOC/LGBTQIA communities and rights. I provide a non-judgmental space. It is important to me that each person feels free to be themselves.
I take Aetna, Oxford, Oscar, and United Healthcare. I offer a free 15-minute phone consult to determine if we are a good fit. Please reach out if you have any questions! I hope I can be of service, or refer you to a therapist that can.
