Persistent crick in the neck for extended period is most often a structural misalignment causing a functional problem or a dysfunctional movement. It is great that your x-rays were not read out as abnormal. Medical Doctors and Radiologist do not look at x-rays for dysfunctional movement and this not normally stated in their readings unless it is very significant. I know this first hand because I have been reading x-ray results not just as a Chiropractor, but also as a CT/Radiology Tech for almost 30 years. Please consult your nearest Chiropractor with these x-rays to explain.

It is normal to have soreness post-manipulation (adjustment). The ligaments attach bone to bones, and the muscle tendons attach muscles to bone. It is most often these soft-tissue structures are minimally stretched/strained post-adjustment, plus various other factors are applicable. I always recommend to my patients to not work-out same day post-treatment because it may pull the adjustments out. This is also why Chiropractors request that you come for multiple treatments so your adjustments hold longer.

Chiropractors are not allowed to prescribe medications and most would not even if we were because of the severity of side effects.

However, most Chiropractors have some knowledge of nutritional supplements that will help manage the pain. The main reason why Chiropractic does not always feel as if it is working is because most people wait way too long before they get treatment and then expect Chiropractors to put them back together in a handful of treatments. There are so many various accumulative lifestyle issues from our "entire life" that feed into our bodies ability to repair itself. The pain is often the last symptom to show-up. How long do we keep ignoring that "Check Engine Light" before we actually do something about it?

I recommend that if you truly want to get better that you consider the lifestyle changes (including the recommended) nutritional advice. Most of all, I recommend you have patience. Unfortunately, the extent of the damage done throughout our entire life will not change in a handful of treatments.
