Good morning! This is a great question but as all doctors will tell you, it depends. It depends on the grade the sprain is. Which ligaments in the shoulder are damaged. A ligament's function is to prevent excessive motion at a joint. On top of this ligaments are usually avascular, meaning they have no direct blood supply to the area. To answer your question, Grades 1-2 sprains are usually rest, proper dieting, decrease the usage of that shoulder, massage, cupping therapy, physical therapy, etc. A Grade 3 means the ligament is completely torn and there is no other way for the ligament to heal unless it is surgically repaired. Hopefully this answers your question! Thanks, Christopher Wydler D.C.

Hello and good morning! Apologies on answering this question super late. The answer to the question is through chiropractic distraction of the joint space. Imagine squeezing an Oreo cookie and the icing in the middle expands outwards past the cookie. What would you do to bring the icing back into the cookie so it is not expanding past the cookie? You would lift the cookie up and push the icing back into the cookie. Essentially this analogy is meant to serve how distraction of the joint space allows the material within the disc to recede back into the disc. With long axis distraction, which is stretching the spine in the y-plane (vertical plane) we are allowing that to happen. Now the treatment for bulging discs/herniations takes time. Depending on the size of the bulge it may take weeks to sometimes months for the disc bulge/herniation to recede back into the disc. However, with research, and scientific data; this method of treatment absolutely works! Hope this answers your question! Christopher Wydler D.C.

Hello! Apologies on getting back to this question so late. A chiropractor is able to help with knee arthritis through many different therapeutic modalities. The first part is observing and understanding how severe is the knee arthritis. If the knee arthritis is severe and there is no cartilage, no joint space, and severe bone spur formation. Then the reality of the situation is, there is very little a chiropractor can accomplish other than strengthening the musculature around that particular knee joint. If the arthritis is mild, or moderate then a chiropractor is able to provide proper patient education, adequate diet, exercising, and provide joint adjustments! Hope this answers your question! Christopher Wydler D.C.

Hello and good morning! Thank you for this question, and the short answer is yes absolutely a chiropractor can help with midback pain. A good chiropractor will ask a very thorough and detailed history. Look for the many different ways to identify what is causing your middle back pain. Whether it be through x-rays of the region, a physical examination (consisting of manual palpation, active and passive range of motion, orthopedic, and possibly even with a neurological examination). Chiropractors can aid with spinal adjustments, spinal exercises, nutrition, and modifications for the activities of daily living! Hope this answers your question! Christopher Wydler D.C.

Good Morning! With any serious spinal surgery there can always be complications. However, I do not want to instill any fear because most neurosurgeons are incredibly good at what they do. I would first recommend going through a conservative treatment plan with a chiropractor to help with your herniated discs. It is what chiropractors such as myself deal on a daily basis. There are methods and spinal treatments which can be implemented to help with your current situation. Hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr. Christopher Wydler

Hello and good morning, The answer to this question is difficult because food allergies are usually hypersensitivities or immune reactions within the linings of the digestive tract. Now what chiropractors can aide with is the improvement of nerve function and nerve flow to those areas of the digestive tract (through spinal adjustments). Chiropractic care can absolutely help with food allergies, but this doesn't mean it always works. Lifestyle, proper nutritional counseling, along with mental and emotional stress release can all help play a role in having food allergies. Hope this answers your question and have a phenomenal day! Sincerely, Christopher Wydler D.C.

What happens to the spine during a chiropractic adjustment?

This is a great question and is one of the most frequently asked questions in all of chiropractic. Essentially the spine is misaligned or not in its correct position. Usually READ MORE
This is a great question and is one of the most frequently asked questions in all of chiropractic. Essentially the spine is misaligned or not in its correct position. Usually due to poor posture, poor ergonomics, or poor muscular strength. The spine moves leading to an increase of pressure on the nerves. The nerves go to different muscles, tissues, joints, and organs of the body. An increase in pressure on the nerve leads to an increase in muscle stiffness, joint tension, and even organ dysfunction. Now what surrounds the joint are fluid-filled spaces. The pressure within the joint increases the pressure due to the misalignment. The fluid-filled space protects the joint from constant friction and provides a gliding motion. When a chiropractor applies a High-Velocity Low Amplitude force or HVLA for short. They are essentially decreasing the pressure within the joint space, allowing fluid to move in and out of the joint creating a popping or cracking sound. With the decrease in pressure of the joint, the misalignment of the spine is corrected and movement is increased into the area. The nerve that was being compressed is now released and allows the connection between the muscles, joints, organs, and tissues to function more efficiently! Hope this answers your question! Sincerely, Christopher Wydler D.C.

Good Afternoon! There is never a right or wrong answer for knee treatment. There can be treatments such as electrical muscle stimulation with heat or ice depending on the stage of inflammation. It can be something as simple as resting. Utilizing some form of ambulatory assistance equipment like a cane, leg scooter, walker, etc. Or treatment can include strengthening and working on flexibility! If all of these do not work I highly recommend doing some diagnostic imaging of the area to exclude any structural issues! Hope this answers your question, Sincerely, Dr. Christopher Wydler
