Keep them clean and wear rubber bands.

Self lighting is the fastest system I have seen.
How often are the rubber bands changed on braces?
Usually every 4 weeks, but I no longer use those.

The bracket and wires can be removed.

I prefer pitts 21 self ligating braces or carrier. I have tried almost all the braces on the market.
