Talk therapy can also improve IBS
Around 20% of both adults and adolescents suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, sometimes referred to as IBS. IBS is a disorder where changes in bowel habits cause abdominal discomfort and pain such as chronic diarrhea, constipation, or both. However, talk therapy and antidepressants have been shown to drastically improve the condition. Approximately 59% of people who engaged in talk therapy, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy, saw their symptoms improve.
