14. Being tricked by "healthy" food packaging: Find out the truth about a product
Food labels can make any claim they want no matter how far from the truth or how ridiculous the statement is. You know what? It works! People are oftentimes fooled into thinking a product is healthy because it says “Healthy Choice!” right on the box. Question everything. If you really want to know the truth of how healthy a food is go straight to the Nutrition Facts box and ingredients list. Arm yourself with some basic knowledge on what to look for and what those weird sounding ingredients actually are. At the very least, look at what a serving size is considered (you’ll be surprised how little it is) and then check the items that are bolded such as calories, fat, sugar, protein, etc. Aim for products that have the smallest ingredients lists and things you can actually pronounce!
