14. Alexis Wineman
Wineman, also known as Miss Montana, is the first known contestant with autism to compete in the Miss America pageant. At the age of 11, she was diagnosed with pervasive development disorder, which is on the autism spectrum. Although she struggled with speech impediment and communication challenges as a result of her condition, Wineman learned to cope and overcome challenges as she got older. Nowadays, she is an autism advocate who strongly believes that individuals should never stop trying to improve themselves.
