“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” -Oprah Winfrey
Over the past decades, Oprah Winfrey has made herself a household name. Not only is she famous for her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, she’s also known for launching her own television network, OWN, and playing a role in Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple.
Oprah has been known as one of the richest African American women in the 20th century, and she was deemed as one of the most influential women of our generation by Life Magazine. Among her greatest achievements is her work with charity. As a philanthropist, she founded Oprah’s Angel Network, which has raised over $50 million for education in South Africa and relief from Hurricane Katrina.
Sprinkled among Oprah's philanthropic achievements is her vast acting career that continues to expand across genres. Most recently, she has appeared in A Wrinkle in Time as Mrs. Which. She is also scheduled to appear as Aurora Greenway in the upcoming remake of Terms of Endearment.
Other notable appearances include Selma (2014), Lee Daniels' The Butler (2013), Charlotte's Web (2006), and Native Son (1986). Her 1985 appearance in The Color Purple was Winfrey's cinema debut. She's also appeared in many more TV movies and shows.
Recently, Oprah debuted her first-ever food line in collaboration with Heinz, called O, That's Good! As a Weight Watchers spokeswoman, Oprah is expanding her brand to your local supermarket. She wants to show the world that comfort food can be healthy food. This line includes soups, mashed potatoes, pastas, and more. Each dish has a healthy twist on a classic, such as cauliflower in the potato dishes, or carrots in tomato basil soup.
And the benefits of her food line don't stop there! 10% of the proceeds go toward charities that work to end worldwide hunger.
