Adult fitness retreats
Among the multitude of weight loss programs that claim fast results are adult fitness retreats. These grown-up “fat camps” have become popular due to individual successes, but positive case studies do not guarantee satisfactory results for everyone. Many of them are structured, but participation is optional, so unless you are really motivated and can push yourself to get out and be active, you’ll find yourself sitting around a lot. Some participants said any weight loss they experienced was due to the caloric restriction the camp placed on them rather than any imposed physical activity.
These programs are also pretty expensive, some costing several thousand per week, and even if you get good results after emptying your wallet, more often than not, they don’t last. The problem is these fitness retreat exercise programs are not sustainable. Your entire lifestyle is drastically altered for a week or two, then you go home and everything returns to normal, including the number on your scale. They put a bandage on a gaping wound, rather than teaching their participants practical habits.
