22 Hipster Health Trends That Need to Just Stop

Overpriced avocado everything

When you think of hipsters, probably one of the first things that comes to mind is avocado toast. The millennial generation has seen fit to use avocados for just about everything food-related, thanks to the fruit’s status as a superfood. The trend has spread to more than just breakfast foods: it has appeared in pesto sauce, ice cream, and even margaritas! But people seem to have forgotten that it’s possible to have too much of a good thing.

The key to a healthy lifestyle is moderation, especially when it comes to high-fat foods like avocados. Yes, it does contain good fat, but that doesn’t mean eating large quantities of it is acceptable, or even healthy. Nor are they considered low in calories: one medium hass avocado contains over 200 calories and about 21 grams of fat. The recommended serving size is one-fifth of a medium avocado, but most people consume at least half of an entire fruit in their meals. Avocados are healthy, but should be eaten in small quantities, making the current craze problematic.
