The double lung transplant that was to save his life
On May 30th of 2015, Thibodeaux underwent a double lung transplant. He believes that he was about a month away from dying when he underwent the surgery that ended up saving his life. “I didn’t have anything left. I was on 4 liters of oxygen 24 hours a day, and... my oxygen level wasn’t above 70-something percent the entire time. The second I’d move anything, I was coughing, I was out of breath. In the middle of an oxygen-filled room with oxygen on, I felt like I was suffocating” he said. Thibodeaux did not know much about his donor but sent a letter to the family.
