Alzheimer’s Deterioration: The Hidden Danger of Chronic Stress

PTSD and Alzheimer's

In a study published in Arch Gen Psychiatry,  it is shown that a male veteran who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD has an increased risk of up to two times in comparison to those without dementia.

Another team of researchers modified mice with PTSD-like symptoms by removing the gene Formin 2, then started them in fear conditioning and testing their memories after it. This resulted in memory decline, which lead the researchers to conclude that PTSD can lead to Alzheimer’s due to some gene expression.
