Antidepressant To Help Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms

Researchers screened thousands of drugs

So the researchers worked with already approved drugs, which have full side effect profiles already documented well. They wanted to see which ones might potentially help progressive type multiple sclerosis patients. They were able to select 249 therapies that were well-tolerated and safe, and were drugs that could easily enter the nervous system without harm. Because multiple sclerosis affects the nerves, brain, and spinal cord, it was important to look at drugs that had the capability of accessing this extremely protected system in our body.
