What is Fibromyalgia?

The symptoms of fibromyalgia may include sleep apnea, insomnia, fatigue, body stiffness, migraine headaches, acid reflux, and more. Not only does fibromyalgia affect a lot of the physical aspect of a person but also the psychological aspect too. People who have this condition often suffer from some form of depression or anxiety. Those who have really bad cases even have cognitive behavioral problems that warrant the need for therapy.
Doctors will first try to treat patients with this condition with antidepressants. The antidepressants are there to help fight off depression and help with sleep problems. Other medications for the relief of pain would include acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs include naproxen, ibuprofen, and aspirins. These can be bought over the counter. Muscle relaxants are also really good for this condition. Muscle relaxants include cyclobenzaprine and also pregabalin.
