Brooklyn School Hosts Kid-Created Autism Awareness Talk Show

The students become their own advocates

Following last year’s triumph autism awareness fashion show, this year the group of children at P53K teamed up with general education students from P.S. 130, with whom they share a space at school. They put together a talk show called ‘Koffee with Kids’, which they hope will capture the attention of celebrities, such as Ellen DeGeneres. “We learned about Ellen, who a host is, and how to ask questions. Basically, my goal was for our children with disabilities to be able to show their capabilities and also be able to advocate for themselves,” said Conto.
