C. Diff Is a Major Problem for IBD: Is Charcoal the Answer?

Results are promising, but more research needs to be done

Based on their small cohort study, all the participants tolerated the charcoal therapy well. So far, it appears to be a fairly safe and protective addition to antibiotic therapy! However, the study findings weren't found to be significant because there wasn't enough evidence to actually prove that charcoal was beneficial to give to patients. The small number of patients in the study made it difficult to prove whether or not adding charcoal could actually decrease your risk of getting C. difficile infection. However, this promising drug needs to be further researched because of the huge potential we see here in this preliminary study. Keep a lookout to make sure you can stay safe from C. diff infection!
