Teen Who Battled Cancer Gives Back to Make-A-Wish

Turning his passion into cause

Eli stated that the main purpose of the car show was to collect toys for Make-A-Wish Foundation, which offers them as bonus prizes during its wish-granting visits. He approached multiple entities for sponsorship, including Midwest Rod & Custom - the very auto body shop that restored his car. While it was nerve-racking having to go up to business owners and ask for donations, Eli said that being a Make-A-Wish kid made it much easier for him to do so. He knew that the toy donations could provide comfort to children in need, as they did for him. “When they meet with kids to figure out what their one true wish is, they usually bring small toys and stuff like that with them to put them at ease and make the process less scary I suppose” he said.
