Like anxiety, feelings of sadness could be a potential warning that more is going on for the caregiver. As a caregiver, being confronted with change, loss, stress and other negative emotions are just part of the job. Feelings of sadness can take over and 1, 2 or 5 days of feeling sad can lead to depression.
Visiting a general practitioner, talking to fellow caregivers or finding a support group can help the caregivers keep depression at bay. Other great tactics include being more active and going outdoors at least once a day as well as being more social.
