Celebrities with Fibromyalgia: Facing an Invisible Illness

What Causes Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia can strike when people least expect. Usually, symptoms usually start to show when involved in a traumatic physical event such as infection, surgery and car accident. Hepatitis B and C, herpes simplex and Epstein-Barr virus can contribute to the onset of fibromyalgia.

Emotional and psychological stress such as loss of parent, abuse or war can trigger the condition. A recent study found that people who are exposed to family trauma such as financial problems and alcohol, depression and chronic illness or divorce as they grow up were diagnosed with fibromyalgia after years.
