Jessamyn Stanley: This model promotes body positivity one yoga pose at a time
Jessamyn Stanley is a body positivity advocate, yoga instructor, and writer who uses her social-media presence to help others overcome issues with body shame and negativity through her unique, body-positive approach to yoga. Stanley’s own experience with yoga transformed, and even saved her life, helping her overcome decades of struggling with weight issues and depression.
Stanley made it her mission to promote diversity and body positivity in yoga by encouraging students and practitioners to focus on how they feel, rather than how they look. Stanley hopes that, by sharing her message with others, she can help them feel more confident, and less intimidated about incorporating yoga into their lives. She believes yoga is meant for everyone, regardless of one’s age, size, or level of experience, and her body-positive approach to yoga encourages others to accept and embrace their own bodies.
