Child with Cystic Fibrosis Wins Trip to Walt Disney World

His trip to the zoo

Ryland and his family live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and, unsurprisingly, there aren’t a lot of crocodiles and other similar reptiles in Colorado. Ryland lives with cystic fibrosis and despite his young age, he does his best to maintain a positive outlook on life. He has a great fascination in animals, so getting to spend a t day with Zoo Miami was a dream come true for him.

The Gallagher’s trip to Zoo Miami began with a private tour of the zoo facilities. They got to participate in plenty of behind the scenes activities like feeding the giraffes and even getting close enough to pet the rhinoceroses. Later, the zoo staff continued with the family’s tour by showing them the reptiles. The family even got to handle a giant Burmese python who lives at the zoo, Fat Boy. At the end of the day, Ryland noted that he’d be interested in taking up permanent residency at the zoo, not to replace any of the full time staff, just to help out with the feeding.
