2. People with autism sometimes need more intense communication to calm down

An ER or hospital is chaotic and confusing, which is much harder for an autistic person to handle. They might react by becoming aggressive or unpredictable. Rather than providing the intense communication that they need to calm down, many patients are instead controlled with physical restraints. If someone could just spend more time explaining where they are and what’s happening to them, they could really make a huge difference for an autistic patient.
