Get Up and Move! Keeping Diabetes Under Control

Researchers used SRA and LW exercises to measure their ability

Researchers used simple body-weight resistance activities (SRA) for patients because these types exercises gave a practical alternative to walking and required only small amounts of floor space and equipment. (Resistance training would be interesting to test. Resistance exercise is somewhat neglected in most physical activities.)

Compared to the SIT model (sitting continually for 7 hours a day), movement or slight exercises proved that there were definite post-meal advantages as it helped their glucose to circulate and lowered their blood concentrations and insulin.

Also, the LW and SRA activities showed a reduction in proinflammatory lipids and increases in antioxidant capacities of other lipids compared to just sitting right after eating. Conclusions did prove that breaking up sitting, especially after eating, is beneficial.
