Could a Newly Developed Plant Virus-Based System Treat Lymphoma?

Vaccinations

To open the door for NHL patients to undergo autologous transplants, researchers are in the process of developing a method of removing the cancerous cells from the replacement stem cells before reinsertion back into the patient’s body. They do so by using monoclonal antibodies used to treat lymphoma on the donated stem cells to remove remaining lymphoma cells from the stem cells they plan to reinsert. This development, along with research into reduced intensity stem cell transplants, could largely increase the number of NHL patients who are able to undergo stem cell transplants.
