New stem cell therapy in the works

In combination with a growing body of research implicating a malfunction TH17 cell as a potential cause of Crohn’s disease are attempts at treating the condition at a cellular level. In 2017, TiGenix and their Japanese partner Takeda announced that they were working on developing stem cell therapy to treat Crohn’s patients. Testing finally received the go ahead this year and the company began using Cx601 to test a group of European-based patients.
