Crohn's Disease: The Year in Review

Undoubtedly, there were many individuals who managed their Crohn’s disease admirably in 2017 and provided inspiration for those around them. Our hats off to everyone adapting to this disease and taking the necessary steps to maintain a normal life in spite of it. One of the people who demonstrated his resolve to fight against Crohn’s in 2017 was Michael Mauti, a linebacker for the New Orleans Saints. Mauti was himself diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in during his senior year at Penn State. Medication and therapy really weren’t enough to keep his symptoms in check, so eventually Mauti went through a series of surgeries that have since helped him be able to control his disease. Mauti partnered with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation to design a special cleat that features their logo in an attempt to raise awareness for this condition and to fight for a cure.
