Dogs Being Trained to Sniff Out the Early Signs of Parkinson's Disease

The hope for the future

The researchers hope to grow their team by adding more canines and handlers, as well as more facilities that seek to participate. They have applied for and are waiting to see if they qualify for funding from the Michael J. Fox foundation, as with expanded funding they will be able to add studies in more locations. Currently in the world there are only two programs of this kind: The Parkinson’s Canine Detection Project in the United States and The Medical Detection Team with Manchester University with Manchester, England.
