The implications for a study is very far reaching. This could mean early detection and a chance for patients to plan, no longer would patients be blindsided by a degenerative disease that they never knew they had the possibility of getting. It could mean new treatment protocols and clinical trials, and earlier detection could give patients, in conjunction with their families and medical teams, additional time to try new therapies and experimental protocols.
