Experimental Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Cures Man's Diabetes
Two of Matt's children have type 1 diabetes, and he always tries to teach them how to manage their disease
Matt has 5 children, 2 of which have type 1 diabetes. A parent is always looking out for their children and Matt is no different. Matt tries to teach his diabetic children how to cope with their disease from an early age. Now, the three are the closest members of the Polk family since they were brought together by a common cause. Upon being offered a cure for his diabetes, Matt felt conflicted, and also guilty. Diabetes was a way of life for him, and Matt felt that having a pancreas transplant alongside his kidney transplant would make his recovery difficult and more delicate.
