In order to make fecal transplants readily available, there is a rather large demand for healthy stool donors. However, donors can be difficult to recruit and retain because a majority of individuals have difficulty processing the ‘ick factor’. For this reason, Breanna McSweeney, a medical student at the University of Alberta, and fellow researchers at Digestive Disease Week 2018, sought out to learn more about what motivates and discourages individuals from making stool donations.
