Fibromyalgia is not a fake disease
The truth is, those who are struggling with fibromyalgia need help. Their physical capabilities are commonly diminished by the disease. Some of the things they could do before by themselves they no longer can accomplish without help. They are not faking it, they are not doing it for attention and, most importantly, their livelihoods are definitely at stake if left to their own devices.
All it takes is for physicians to keep an open mind and listen to the patient’s story. For friends and families, a friendly hand or a shoulder to cry on is the single most important thing they can offer, and all it will cost is a bit of time.
