Fibromyalgia: Breaking the Pain Cycle

Improving sleep, reducing stress, finding small moments of joy

Improving sleep habits, scheduling pleasant activities, accepting your pain, and doing the things that are important to you will help ease the cycle of fibromyalgia pain--even if just a small amount. Move, exercise, take advantage of massages and try not to put value judgments on your pain sensations.  Sometimes a person has to dig deep to try small things that bring small moments of joy. Other fibro patients have suggested the most simple things imaginable: stroking a cat, snuggling with a dog, trying to make a baby smile, writing in a blog, getting lost in a book--small things that can give you relief even for just a moment in time. These are all excellent ways to help reduce suffering and possibly reduce the level of pain you experience with fibromyalgia.
