Having Multiple Sclerosis May Reduce Cancer Risk
Scientists found a sizable drop in cancer risk in MS patients
The scientists found that about 7.32 percent of patients with multiple sclerosis ended up undergoing treatment for a cancer of any type. This was lower than the 12.63 percent of those in the healthy group that ended up needing cancer treatment. Overall, there was a 37% drop in the likelihood of cancer development in people with multiple sclerosis compared to the general population group. It didn't seem that any type of therapy or immunosuppressant, or even the severity of the disease itself, affected the cancer risk among patients.
