Abby and Brittany are living extremely low-key lives after capturing our hearts

In the 22 years since their television debut on The Oprah Winfrey Show when they were just six years old, Abby and Brittany Hensel have lived on and off in the limelight. They’ve been featured in magazines, documentaries, and TV shows over the years, but today, living in their late twenties, the twin sisters are living a very low-profile life, and that’s just the way they want it. The two understand that the nature of their condition — both its infrequency as well as the rarity of their own survival — they will always face some measure of attention from the general public. While Abby and Brittany are not embarrassed by their conjoined nature and are more than happy to answer questions about it, they do not want to spend their lives in the spotlight. To them, their condition is simply one aspect of who they are; it does not define them. Instead, they are content to focus on their teaching careers.
