As much as she relies on her cheerleaders they are inspired by her strength and determination. Her coach describes Robertson as being a “new definition of tough.” Instead of allowing him to take her off the track, Robertson showed that she could compete despite her condition. Lupus, to her, is not an excuse to perform badly. Even with lupus, Robertson won different medals for her determination on the track.
