How Diabetic Patients Can Add Strength to Their Daily Routine

Nowadays, you do not need to go to the gym to do strength training

You do not need to go to a gym to work on strength training. There are strength training exercises you can do away from the gym. Use dumbbells, hand weights, and resistance bands. Check out local classes, look at videos, and find other ways to work at a weight or strength training program.  Just find out what works best for you and stay consistent.

You may, however, want to work some sessions with a certified personal trainer to make sure you are using the right equipment and doing the correct exercises.

The types of strength training you do is different for everyone. You may have health problems that affect what you can do. Address high blood pressure, knee problems or a bad back when developing a personalized exercise program. Some awesome strength exercises you can do on your own include:

  • Lunges
  • Planks
  • Squats
  • Push-ups
  • Dips

Many professional trainers recommend compound movements like pushups and squats that use many different muscle groups at one time.

Whatever strength program you choose to use, keep it consistent. Make a schedule, be patient and don’t give up.
