How Ghee Can Help With IBD

How to make Ghee!

To make ghee:

Cut 16 oz. of unsalted butter into cubes and place them in a saucepan;

On medium heat, bring to boil and then reduce to medium-low heat to let simmer. During this time, the milk solids will float to the top and as they do, skim them off with a spoon. This process takes some time, so it is necessary to continually remove the solids until the butter turns to clear butter oil;

Continue cooking the butter for around 10 to 20 minutes until most of the bubbling stops and the milk solids on the bottom of the pan begin to brown. The separation process will be complete once the milk solids on the bottom of the pan become slightly brown and the now clarified butter is seen as clear and transparent.

Turn off the heat and let the clarified butter cool for a few minutes. Then, strain the ghee through a cheesecloth and pour it into an air-tight glass storage container;

Store at room temperature (can be stored up to a year if there is no smell or change in appearance);
