How Love Helps to Overcome the Challenges of Kennedy's Disease

Finding strength in love

For the caregiver, love is often what drives them to offer the best possible care they can, while still trying to maintain their identity - this is especially true when the caregiver is also the partner or spouse. Georgeanna was still considered to be a newlywed when her and her husband Charlie received the news that life was forever changed with the new diagnosis of KD.

Knowing she had to be there to support her husband, she also had to find the right way to deal with his disease - as it is with any other disease, disorder or disability, it affects more than just the patient’s life.  Georgeanna found the strength she needed in the love she had for her husband. That is why she happily took on the role of sole caregiver and continues with it today.
