How is this disease caused?
Expert’s investigations on DLE, and any other form of lupus, show that although symptoms are clearer than any other autoimmune diseases, the real cause of the condition is still unknown. They all agree, however, that genes, hormones, and environmental factors play an important role. It has also been revealed that sunlight, UV light, stress, some medicines, and infection may trigger the disease or cause it to flare. When properly managed though, most symptoms are not life-threatening but it can cause several challenges to the patient’s quality of life. Thus, early detection and treatment are paramount to fighting the disease.
