The Beatles once told said that people can get by with a little help from their friends (and family). Unfortunately, many people do not have the supportive family and friend circles that they deserve. This lack of support can definitely make dealing with fibromyalgia especially difficult.
There is good news for people who find their family and friends less than understanding: Most people are not supportive not because they do not want to be, but because they don’t understand fibromyalgia syndrome. It can be incredibly emotionally painful when someone feels intense physical pain and no one “gets” it. The isolation can start to take a toll, thus worsening their condition. Don’t worry, though!
