How to Help Those with Alzheimer's Retain their Dignity

Once a person’s identity is taken away, and there is no sense of self, they become:

  • Depressed: These are feelings of sadness, worthlessness, hopelessness, and despair, and the loss of interest and motivation, lack of energy and changes in eating, sleeping and personal care patterns disappear. Depression leads to feelings and actions that become out of control, the patient is unable to be positive, and feels lost and alone.
